Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Nurse Manager for the Pediatric operating room plastics team at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, TX. This full-time day shift role involves directing nursing staff, coordinating patient care, and monitoring outcomes to ensure high-quality pediatric surgical services.

Lead a team in a fast-paced OR setting, with opportunities for staff development, performance evaluations, and collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues to optimize patient outcomes and workflow

Qualifications

• Active RN license in TX
• ACLS or ARC-ALS within 6 months of hire
• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred (PALS)

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Assigns, directs, educates and monitors nursing and support staff during assigned shift. Contributes to or performs performance evaluations of staff.
• Assesses daily patient care needs and develops and distributes patient care assignments, ensuring that population appropriate patient care is given.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes.
• May provide input for hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff.

What Minimum Requirements You'll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Preferred Credential(s):
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

• Plastics RN experience.
• 2 plus years OR RN experience with pediatric OR RN experience.
• 40 hours per week and shift generally consists of 2x8s and 2x12s and can be re-evaluated.
