Job summary

Ascension is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Operating Room at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, TX. This full-time weekend option role offers 36 hours per week (Fri, Sat, Sun, 6:30 pm–7:00 am) with opportunities to contribute to high-quality pediatric surgical care.

The ideal candidate will have a nursing diploma, Texas RN licensure, ACLS/BLS readiness, and 1+ year OR pediatric experience. Comprehensive benefits are provided.

Responsibilities

• Deliver operating room RN care before, during, and after surgical procedures to ensure patient safety.
• Coordinate patient care and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support efficient surgical workflows.
• Perform circulating nurse responsibilities with monitoring, documentation in EHR, and accurate clinical records.
• Provide scrub nurse support with sterile technique, instrument prep, and assisting surgeons.

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Deliver Operating Room Registered Nurse care by providing direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
• Coordinate patient care and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support efficient surgical workflows, clear communication, and high-quality clinical outcomes.
• Perform circulating nurse responsibilities by monitoring patient status, documenting care in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), and ensuring accurate clinical documentation.
• Provide scrub nurse support by maintaining sterile technique, preparing instruments, and assisting surgeons to promote procedural efficiency and patient safety.

What Minimum Requirements You'll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Additional Preferences

• 1 plus years OR RN experience with pediatric OR RN experience a plus.
• 36 hours per week Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6:30pm - 7am.
