Job summary

Ascension in Austin, TX is seeking a skilled RN for our Pediatric CVOR. The role includes scrub and circulating duties, coordinating care with surgeons and anesthesia, and precise documentation in the EHR.

You will support cardiovascular procedures and ensure procedural readiness in a fast-paced OR setting. The successful candidate will hold a Texas RN license, with ACLS and BLS current or within required timelines, and a Diploma in Nursing.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Texas (or eligible) prior to hire.
• ACLS within 6 months (180 days) of hire.
• BLS within 1 month (30 days) of hire.

Responsibilities

• Scrub and circulate while maintaining sterile technique and accurate EHR documentation.
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons, anesthesia, and the team for positive outcomes.
• Assess patient condition during cardiovascular procedures and communicate urgent updates for timely decisions.
• Prepare CVOR, instruments, and equipment to ensure readiness and regulatory compliance.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Perform scrub and circulating duties while maintaining sterile technique, patient safety, and accurate clinical documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team to support positive surgical outcomes and procedural efficiency.
• Assess and monitor patient condition throughout cardiovascular procedures, communicating critical updates to support timely clinical decision-making and quality patient care.
• Prepare cardiovascular operating rooms, surgical instruments, and specialized equipment to ensure procedural readiness, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
  

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• One or more of the following required:
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Additional Preferences

• CVOR RN experience with pediatric CVOR RN experience a plus
• 5 plus years OR RN experience
• 40 hours per week 6:30am - 5pm on call required to include weekend on call. On call is 1 weeknight/week, 1 weekend every 5 weeks.
