Job summary

Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola is seeking a Staff Registered Nurse to join the Recovery department on a part-time, rotating schedule in Pensacola, FL. You will provide specialized nursing care in the immediate post-anesthesia recovery period.

The role requires RN licensure in Florida, 1 year of Staff RN experience, and BLS/ACLS; PACU/critical care experience preferred. Ascension offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural recovery period.
• Maintain aseptic sterile technique following AORN and ASPAN standards.
• Assess patient responses, manage post-surgical pain, and evaluate recovery progress.
• Anticipate case-specific complications based on procedures and pathophysiology.

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Provide specialized nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural recovery period.
• Adhere strictly to AORN and ASPAN standards, maintaining aseptic sterile technique throughout all patient interventions.
• Continuously assess patient responses to treatments, manage acute post-surgical pain, and evaluate overall recovery progress.
• Anticipate case-specific complications and needs based on thorough knowledge of surgical procedures and underlying pathophysiology.

What minimum requirements you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Florida Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Florida. Credentialed from State Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

• Graduate of a Registered Nursing program required.

Work Experience:

• One year of experience as a Staff Registered Nurse is required.
• Previous experience in a critical care or PACU setting is preferred.
• BLS and ACLS
• one year adult ICU experience
