Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, TN seeks a part-time Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse to join the PACU department. You will deliver direct patient care, monitor recovery, and stabilize patients after surgery.

You will assess responses to anesthesia, manage pain, and apply aseptic techniques per AORN and ASPAN standards. Requires RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS within specified times, and a diploma from an accredited nursing program.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Tennessee or eligible.
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS within required timeframes.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program.
• Experience in PACU or perioperative nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care in PACU and monitor recovery.
• Assess anesthesia responses and stabilize patients postoperatively.
• Manage pain and recovery needs with clinical judgment.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver direct patient care as a Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse, monitoring recovery and stabilizing patients after surgical procedures.
• Assess patient responses to anesthesia, treatments, and interventions while ensuring safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout the post-operative period.
• Manage patient pain and recovery needs using clinical judgment, quality improvement practices, and established Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse standards.
• Implement aseptic and sterile techniques according to AORN and ASPAN standards to protect patient safety and maintain high-quality direct patient care.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
