Job summary

Ascension is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse at All Saints Hospital in Racine, WI. You will lead the comprehensive patient care journey in the operative setting and support the surgical team to ensure safety and continuity of care.

In this role, you will prepare the OR, scrub and assist with positioning, hemostasis, wound closure, and maintain readiness for every case, all within a day-shift, full-time schedule in Surgery.

Qualifications

• Advanced Life Support certification required within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire.
• RN licensure from a state board (MN or WI) or compact multi-state license as applicable.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program or equivalent licensure is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the comprehensive patient care journey in the operative setting (pre-intra-post-op) by monitoring, recording, and communicating vitals to ensure safety and continuity of care.
• Execute scrub functions, selecting and preparing surgical instruments to maintain a sterile field and support procedural flow.
• Assist physician with positioning, hemostasis, and wound closure to ensure positive surgical outcomes.
• Prepare the operating room and ensure instruments, supplies, and high-tech equipment are functional, sterile, and ready for every case.

• Execute specialized scrub functions, meticulously selecting and preparing all surgical instruments and supplies to maintain a sterile field and support the procedural flow, directly contributing to surgical success.
• Support the surgical team directly by assisting the physician with critical tasks, including precise patient positioning, achieving hemostasis, and facilitating wound closure to ensure positive surgical outcomes.
• Maintain a state of procedural readiness by preparing the operating room, ensuring all instruments, supplies, and high-tech equipment are functional, sterile, and immediately available for every case.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Minnesota Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure is dependent on state associate works in.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State. Licensure is dependent on state associate works in.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire required.
