Job summary

Ascension is seeking a part-time Surgical Assistant in Racine, WI, at All Saints Hospital in the General Surgery department. The role supports the surgeon with instrumentation, visualization, and fluid management to ensure smooth operative flow.

The position emphasizes patient stability, wound closure, and a safe post-operative recovery, with a day shift schedule and part-time hours.

Qualifications

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Surgical Assistant credentialed from the NBSTSA preferred.
  • Education: High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead procedural readiness by preparing the surgical suite with instruments, high-tech equipment, and sterile fields.
  • Support the surgeon by providing visualization of the operative site through manipulation, retraction, and fluid management.
  • Maintain patient stability by applying techniques for temporary and permanent hemostasis.
  • Position and stabilize the patient and assist with wound closure and post-operative dressing.

  • Support the surgeon's focus and procedural flow by expertly providing visualization of the operative site through skillful manipulation, retraction, and fluid management.
  • Maintain patient stability and minimize risk by expertly applying techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis during critical moments of the procedure.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety by precisely positioning and stabilizing the patient and facilitating seamless post-operative recovery through meticulous wound closure and dressing application.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

What minimum requirements you’ll need
