Job summary

Caring Hospice Services is seeking an RN on-call to provide direct patient care after hours, with a focus on pain and symptom control for hospice patients. The role requires PA licensure and involves driving to patient locations as needed.

The position is shift-based (8a-8p) every other weekend, with a signing bonus available to the selected candidate. Strong assessment and communication skills are essential for coordinating with families and physicians.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as an RN in the state of PA.
• Ability to relate and treat terminally ill patients and families.
• Strong patient assessment, management and documentation skills.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Access to reliable automobile with proof of liability insurance.
• Prior hospice or end-of-life care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care with emphasis on pain and symptom control after hours.
• Coordinate with physicians and families to implement the care plan.
• Document patient status, interventions and responses promptly.
• Prioritize calls and respond quickly to after-hours needs.
• Identify patient or caregiver needs and recommend comfort measures.

The RN on-call provides direct patient care with special emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms to hospice patients after hours.

Shift: 8a-8p every other weekend - Saturday and Sunday

Must be Licensed as an RN in the state of PA.

• Ability to relate and treat terminally ill patients/families and their particular problems.
• Must possess strong patient assessment, patient management and documentation skills.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation and communication skill.
• Access to reliable automobile with proof of liability insurance.
• Communicates pertinent findings to the physician, implements medical treatment plan, instructs family accordingly.
• Identifies problems/needs of patient of caregiver, making recommendations for pain management and comfort/symptom management.
• Responds to calls promptly when received from answering service. Is able to prioritize.
