Job summary

Caring Hospice seeks an on-call Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care after hours, with emphasis on controlling pain and other symptoms for hospice patients. The role requires Ohio RN licensure and reliable travel to patient locations.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, documentation, and timely communication with physicians, along with prioritizing calls and ensuring comfort for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care after hours with emphasis on pain and symptom control.
• Relate to and treat terminally ill patients and families and address their problems.
• Communicate pertinent findings to the physician and document plans.
• Identify patient or caregiver needs and make recommendations for pain and symptom management.
• Respond promptly to calls and prioritize effectively.
• Travel to patient locations as needed.

The RN on-call provides direct patient care with special emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms to hospice patients after hours.

Shift: On-Call

Must be Licensed as an RN in OH.

Ability to relate and treat terminally ill patients/families and their particular problems.

Must possess strong patient assessment, patient management and documentation skills.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation and communication skill.

Access to reliable automobile with proof of liability insurance.

Communicates pertinent findings to the physician, implements medical treatment plan, instructs family accordingly.

Identifies problems/needs of patient of caregiver, making recommendations for pain management and comfort/symptom management.

Responds to calls promptly when received from answering service. Is able to prioritize.
