Job summary

Caring-Hospice-Services in Sandwich, MA is seeking an On-Call Registered Nurse to provide after-hours hospice care, focusing on pain and symptom control. The Nurse On-Call provides nursing care with special emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms to hospice patients after hours.

Work Schedule: 7 on/7 off

The On-Call RN provides nursing care with special emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms to the hospice patient after regular office hours. Implements physician plan of care and establishes a nursing plan of care based upon nursing process.

Licensed as an RN in the state of MA.

• Ability to relate and treat terminally ill patients/families and their particular problems.

• Must possess strong patient assessment, patient management and documentation skills.

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation and communication skill.

• Access to reliable automobile with proof of liability insurance.

• Communicates pertinent findings to the physician, implements medical treatment plan, instructs family accordingly.

• Identifies problems/needs of patient of caregiver, making recommendations for pain management and comfort/symptom management.

• Responds to calls promptly when received from answering service. Is able to prioritize.
