Job summary

Caring Hospice Services is seeking a licensed RN to provide after-hours on-call nursing care, focusing on pain and symptom management for hospice patients. The Nurse On-Call will implement the physician plan of care and develop an individualized nursing plan of care based on nursing processes.

Requirements include MA RN licensure, strong patient assessment, documentation, and communication skills, plus reliable transportation. The schedule is 7 on/7 off, with a $6,000 signing bonus.

• Ability to relate to terminally ill patients/families.
• Strong patient assessment, management and documentation skills.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide hospice nursing care after hours, focusing on pain and symptom control.
• Implement physician plan of care and establish a nursing plan of care.
• Prioritize calls and respond promptly to after-hours inquiries.
• Communicate pertinent findings to the physician and instruct family accordingly.
• Identify patient or caregiver needs and make recommendations for pain management and comfort.

The Nurse On-Call provides nursing care with special emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms to hospice patients after hours.

Work Schedule: 7 on/7 off

The On-Call RN provides nursing care with special emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms to the hospice patient after regular office hours. Implements physician plan of care and establishes a nursing plan of care based upon nursing process.

Licensed as an RN in the state of MA.

• Ability to relate and treat terminally ill patients/families and their particular problems.
• Must possess strong patient assessment, patient management and documentation skills.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation and communication skill.
• Access to reliable automobile with proof of liability insurance.
• Communicates pertinent findings to the physician, implements medical treatment plan, instructs family accordingly.
• Identifies problems/needs of patient of caregiver, making recommendations for pain management and comfort/symptom management.
• Responds to calls promptly when received from answering service. Is able to prioritize.
