Job summary

Medical City Alliance seeks a Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in postpartum and medical-surgical settings. You will perform assessments, coordinate with the care team, and ensure safety and comfort for patients and families.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate’s degree (BSN preferred) with a Texas RN license, BLS, and NRP within 90 days. Prior newborn care experience is preferred. This role emphasizes clinical excellence and collaborative teamwork in a dynamic hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree required; BSN preferred; BSN must be completed within 3 years of employment.
  • Texas State RN license or compact license; current BLS required; NRP required within first 90 days; Specialty Certification encouraged.
  • Minimum of one year’s experience preferred; ability to care for newborns preferred.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Registered Nurse is responsible for decisions and actions within the domain of nursing practice. Important aspects of this responsibility are the promotion of a safe and therapeutic environment for both the recipients and providers of nursing care; acquisition of specialized knowledge skills and additional formal education to provide specialized care; demonstration and validation of competence in nursing practice; clinical practice consistent with the policies, procedures and standards of this facility; and supervision of other staff as designated within the department.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
  • Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Responsible for care of patients in the Postpartum period following delivery to discharge as well as basic medical surgical and gynecological surgery patients.
  • Performs and documents patient assessments and reassessments following Nursing and Departmental P/P, using appropriate techniques for data collection and analysis, at regular and indicated intervals
  • Provides IV therapy management and performs venipuncture as needed for lab draws per physician orders.
  • Applies special precautions supervising care provided to sedated, PCA, or fall risk patients to minimize potential safety.

What qualifications you will need:

Education/Skills
  • Associate’s degree required; BSN preferred. BSN will be required within 3 years of employment. Professional Nursing Organization membership encouraged.
Experience
  • Minimum of one year’s experience is preferred. Ability to care for newborns is also preferred.
Licenses, Registrations and/or Certifications
  • Texas State RN license or compact license is accepted; Texas State RN license required 30 days after hire; current BLS required; NRP required within first 90 days; Specialty Certification encouraged.
