Job summary

Medical City Dallas is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care aligned with department standards and nursing models. You will collaborate with physicians and care teams to provide comprehensive and compassionate care, advocate for patients, and ensure positive clinical outcomes using advanced staffing support and technology.

You will assess, perform, teach, and manage care while educating patients, families, and caregivers to ensure understanding of treatment

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN licensure in Texas or a compact state.
• BSN required within 24 months of hire for RN position.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required or to be obtained.
• Experience with chemotherapy/biotherapy is suggested or required per policy.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition at admission and during each shift, reporting changes promptly.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, and document care in the medical record accurately.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor therapeutic response.
• Respond to patient requests promptly and educate patients and families.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, meds, and follow-up steps.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization's vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.

What you will do in this role:

• Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record.
• Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
• Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
• If hired after 6/1/12, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position.
• Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license
• Current American Heart Association or ARC BLS provider.
• Effective 1/1/24, current American Heart Association or ARC ACLS provider within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• ONS Chemotherapy biotherapy certificate course required within 60 days of hire or transfer
