Job Summary And Qualifications

The Registered Nurse is responsible for decisions and actions within the domain of nursing practice. Important aspects of this responsibility are the promotion of a safe and therapeutic environment for both the recipients and providers of nursing care; acquisition of specialized knowledge skills and additional formal education to provide specialized care; demonstration and validation of competence in nursing practice; clinical practice consistent with the policies, procedures and standards of this facility; and supervision of other staff as designated within the department. Under the supervision of the nurse manager, the registered nurse provides holistic, individualized patient care in response to emergent, identified needs. Additional functions will be performed in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and ENA standards in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization.

  • Recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
  • Resolves patient pAssures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; correcting problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures and procedures specific to Emergency room nursing.
  • Possess the ability to work independently and priorities responsibilities.
  • Clinically proficient in emergency room nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the developmental needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
  • Provides and documents quality patient care consistently according to hospital standards and policy/procedures.
  • Accepts accountability and responsibility as a member of the department of nursing services.
  • Will document a formal assessment on all patients presenting to the department that are ESI Level 1, 2, or 3.
  • The RN will prioritize patient care as they present to the department.
  • Reassessment of patient conditions and symptoms based on initial acuity prior to medical screening and appropriate reassessments after MSE.
  • Will delivery culturally competent care to patients and service to customers, co-workers and peers in day-to-day interactions.
  • Will maintain a positive and motivating environment.
  • Participant in shared governance.
  • Accurately identify situations which require emergent or urgent responses and communicate those to the appropriate level of leadership in the organization utilizing the appropriate chain of command in the approach to problem solving.
  • Assist in achieving the clinical, financial and administrative objectives of the department.
  • Collaborate with department leaders on significant operational issues/barriers associated with nursing practice.
  • Maintain all required certifications and licensure for registered nurse job requirements.
  • Provide evidence –based nursing care to all patient’s entrusted to your care.
Education/Skills
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Associate’s degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of two years’ nursing experience preferred. Emergency room clinical experience preferred.
Licenses, Registrations and/or Certifications
  • Registered Nurse License eligible to practice in the State of Texas required;
  • BLS and ACLS certification from HCA approved vendor required;
  • ENPC required within 6 months of hire.
  • TNCC required within 6 months of hire.
  • CEN, CPEN, or TCRN preferred.
