Job summary

SoftPath Medical seeks a Medical Surgical / Telemetry RN for a 4W night shift on a 39-bed unit caring for adult and geriatric cardiac patients. 7 PM to 7 AM, with weekends on duty and potential float responsibilities. Orientation sessions occur every other Thursday.

The role requires 2+ years as an RN and at least 1 year in the specialty, with BLS/BCLS certs; ACLS preferred. Competitive schedule with a radius restriction may apply.

Responsibilities

• Care for adult and geriatric cardiac patients on a 39-bed unit.

• Provide float support within scope and assist with LPN when needed.
• Adhere to hospital protocols and unit guidelines during shifts.

Job description

Medical Surgical / Telemetry RN - 4W

Shift

3x12 or 4x12 Night Shifts, 7 PM to 7 AM; weekdays, every other weekend, with float responsibilities

Please limit holiday time-off requests to no more than one of the three major holidays.

Orientation sessions are held every other week on Thursdays.

Staffing Ratios and Experience Requirements

Patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:5. In cases of call-ins or sick leave, ratios may increase to 6 or 7 patients per nurse. When this occurs, the RN will manage 5 patients independently and assist with 1 or 2 patients assigned to an LPN.

Weekend work is required every other weekend.

Certifications required: BLS/BCLS; ACLS preferred.

Floating within scope of practice may be required.

Manager cannot guarantee blocked schedule requests.

A 100-mile radius rule applies (75-99 miles requires facility approval).

A valid RN license from WV or Compact states is required; pending RN licenses may be submitted.

36 hours per week guaranteed.

No restrictions on return-to-office requests; discuss with manager during interview.

Unit and Patient Population

The unit has 39 beds and cares for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac conditions including acute MI, unstable angina, CHF, unstable arrhythmias, and other cardiac disorders. The patient population also includes CVA surgical patients and observation unit patients with an average stay of 36 hours or less. The unit is approximately half inpatient and half observation.

Experience with post-cardiac catheterization, post-angiogram, and PTCA is required.

Proficiency with drips including heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, and nitroglycerin is essential.

Submission Requirements

Permanent employees are not eligible to return as travelers for two years after their last permanent day worked.

Flu vaccination is mandatory during flu season (October 1 to March 31) unless medically exempt with documentation from an allergist or physician. Flu shots are not required outside this period.

COVID-19 vaccination is not required.
