Job summary

SoftPath Medical seeks an experienced RN for MedSurg/Tele assignments. The role covers a 32-bed unit with a 1:4–1:6 day ratio and 1:5–1:6 nights, including surge staffing adjustments.

You will float regionally, handle cardiac drips, wound care, drains and IVs, and participate in 24/7 hospital coverage with EPIC documentation. Expect travel between facilities within the region, 2 days of orientation, weekends every other, and holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• Basic Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation.
• Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone).
• Wound care competency.
• Drain and tube management experience.
• Peripheral IV starts.
• Central line management.

Responsibilities

• Float within region and scope of practice as needed.
• Provide patient care across Med/Surg and Tele floors.
• Support with nurse staffing and bed coordination.
• Collaborate with Hospitalist and Respiratory Therapy 24/7 coverage.
• Adhere to unit policies and document in EPIC.

Unit Information

• Beds: 32
• Average Census: 28
• Minimum Experience Required: 18 months Med/Tele RN experience
• First-time travelers accepted

Patient Types / Common Diagnoses

• Total joint replacements
• Colon resection
• Gallbladder surgery
• Appendectomy
• Amputations
• Medical overflow
• Hip fractures
• Small bowel obstruction (SBO)
• NG tube management

Patient Ratios

• RN: Days 1:4-6; Nights 1:5-6 - surge staffing may increase ratios to 1:7-8
• LPN (if applicable): Days 1:4-6; Nights 1:5-6 - surge staffing may increase ratios to 1:7-8
• CNA: 1:10-11 or 1:16 depending on staffing

Required Licensure & Certifications

• RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• Hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Intensivist coverage 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring/tech support available

Floating

Floating required within region and scope of practice

Floating to all facilities within the region as needed; agreement to float is mandatory

Travel time between facilities during floating shifts will be compensated

Orientation

New Employee Orientation (NEO)

2 days departmental orientation

Scheduling

Weekend rotation: every other weekend

Call: Possible low census call; may be called back until 3 AM for nights and 3 PM for days

Holiday expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

Request Time Off (RTO): Up to 6 days off approved excluding holidays; additional time off requires contract extension

Shift times: 06:45-19:00 and 18:45-07:00

Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
