American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in West Virginia. Requires 2+ years of relevant nursing experience and strip-reading proficiency.

Applicants must hold an active WV or Compact RN license, BLS and ACLS, read telemetry strips, and titrate Heparin. Driver's license copy required. The unit is fast-paced with EPIC EMR and 43 beds, with 24/7 charge coverage and travel housing support.

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of relevant experience and strip-reading proficiency.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
• BSN not required
• Must be able to read telemetry strips and manage cardiac patient population
• Comfortable titrating Heparin and occasionally Lasix or Bumex
• Unexpired copy of driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Acute care Cardiac Telemetry unit with 43 beds (semi-private, 9-10 private rooms)
• Average patient ratios of 1:5, flexing up to 1:6
• Common diagnoses include post heart caths, TR bands, CHF, COPD, post pacers, arrhythmias, and patients awaiting CABG consult or medical management
• RNs titrate Heparin and occasionally Lasix or Bumex; Cardizem and Amiodarone are not titrated
• Unit serves as the central monitor station for the entire North Tower with dedicated monitor techs, though RNs must be able to read strips
• Occasional use of High Flow, BiPAP, and CPAP for supportive therapy only
• PCTs support the unit with ADLs, FSBS, and EKGs at a goal ratio of 1:8 (flexing to 1:12-18)
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730)
• Self-scheduling available with block schedule accommodation based on unit needs
• Every other weekend required for travelers (Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon for nights)
• Holiday coverage may be required if unit needs are not met by permanent staff
• Rare call or standby requirements possible, per contract terms
• Float rotation includes ICU (rare) and Stepdown, with assignments limited to RN skillset
• Fast-paced unit with approximately 8-12 discharges and 8-12 admissions per day
• RNs perform their own admissions and discharges with team support available when needed
• Strong team culture with an emphasis on mutual support
• Charge Nurse coverage 24/7; night charge nurse also carries a patient assignment
• Unit orientation includes 1 day of computer training followed by 1 day of shadowing with a preceptor
• Unit is experienced in training new graduates and welcomes first-time travelers
• Royal blue scrubs required; scrub jackets permitted (no hoodies or sweat-jackets)
• Local candidates not accepted; radius requirement of 50 miles from the facility
• Returning travelers must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying to any WVU Medicine location
• Travelers may not work within WVU facilities for longer than a year without a required 2-year break
