Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Med Surg Float team. This PRN position covers Nights shifts and will float between multiple med-surg units, delivering expert nursing care to a diverse patient population.

You will implement complex care plans, monitor patient conditions, collaborate with physicians, therapists, and specialists, and assist with timely discharges while advocating for patients in dynamic clinical environments.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Tennessee or multi-state license recognized before hire.
• BLS within 30 days of hire date.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing or equivalent licensure.

• Provide expert nursing care across Med Surg units.
• Implement complex care plans and monitor patient conditions.

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Provide expert nursing care across a wide range of specialties, including Neurology, Orthopedics, Oncology, Observation, Pulmonary Post Thoracic Surgery, Renal Dialysis, Vascular and Medical Telemetry units.
• Implement complex care plans and vigilantly monitor patient conditions, ensuring seamless communication with the broader medical team.
• Act as the central hub for patient care, synchronizing efforts between physicians, therapists, and specialists for superior outcomes.
• Masterfully carry out orders for specialized populations, from post-thoracic recovery to renal and pulmonary care.
• Rapidly assess and coordinate discharge and care needs, serving as a steady, expert advocate for patients in ever-changing clinical environments.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

• This position will float between the different Med Surg Units at Ascension Saint Thomas West.
