Job summary

Ascension's Via Christi surgical team in Derby, KS is hiring a Registered Nurse to join the Surgery department on a day shift, full-time basis. You will help prepare sterile fields, anticipate surgeon needs, coordinate with the team to improve workflow and patient safety, and ensure the suite is ready for the next procedure.

The role requires Kansas RN licensure, ACLS within 6 months, BLS within 1 month, and pediatric ACLS preferred, plus 3 years of experience with at least 1 year in leadership.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing required.
• Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire date.
• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.
• 3 years of experience and 1 year of leadership experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field for surgical procedures.
• Anticipate surgeon and team needs by providing instruments and supplies quickly.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team to streamline operative workflows.
• Maintain counts and equipment checks for patient safety and care standards.
• Support postoperative transition by resetting the surgical suite efficiently.

• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team by providing the correct instruments and supplies with speed and accuracy.


• Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team to streamline operative workflows, directly impacting patient safety and procedure efficiency.


• Maintain meticulous counts and equipment checks to uphold the highest standards of patient care and operational excellence.


• Support the post-operative transition by ensuring the surgical suite is expertly reset and ready for the next life‑saving procedure.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.


• One or more of the following required: Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.


• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.


• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 3 years of experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience required.
