Job summary

Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, KS is seeking a Registered Nurse Manager for Labor and Delivery. Lead and empower the nursing team, drive staffing, training and patient-care standards to deliver safe, high-quality experiences for mothers and newborns.

You will oversee operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage budget resources within a day shift, full-time role at the Ascension Labor & Delivery unit.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Kansas; BLS within 30 days.
• 3 years RN experience with 1 year in leadership.
• 3+ years in Labor & Delivery preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and empower unit staff to recruit, train and develop a high-performing team.
• Optimize patient care delivery by resolving bottlenecks and streamlining workflow for mothers and newborns.

• Lead and empower unit staff: Drive the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of your nursing team to build a high-performing, compassionate care environment.

• Establish modern care standards: Develop and update evidence-based unit policies and procedures to elevate nursing practices and maintain strict regulatory compliance.

What minimum qualifications you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing required.

Education:

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 3 years of experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience required.

Additional Preferences:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in L&D
• Minimum 1 year of formal experience in an RN leadership role (e.g., Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Manager).
