Job summary

Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS, seeks an experienced Nursing Leader for Labor and Delivery. You will mentor and develop the nursing team, optimize care delivery, update policies, and manage daily operations and budget to ensure safe, high-quality care for mothers and newborns.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years as an RN in L&D with at least 1 year in a leadership role, Kansas RN licensure, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• RN license valid in Kansas and current with the Kansas Board of Nursing.
• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire; AHA or Red Cross accepted.
• Minimum 3 years as RN in L&D with at least 1 year in leadership.

• Lead and empower unit staff: Drive the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of your nursing team to build a high-performing, compassionate care environment.
• Optimize patient care delivery: Resolve operational bottlenecks and streamline workflow to ensure safe, seamless, and high-quality experiences for mothers and newborns.
• Establish modern care standards: Develop and update evidence-based unit policies and procedures to elevate nursing practices and maintain strict regulatory compliance.
• Manage unit operations and fiscal health: Oversee daily activities and direct budget expenditures to ensure your team has the essential resources and staffing required for optimal care.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing required.

Education

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 3 years of experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience required.

Additional Preferences

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in L&D
• Minimum 1 year of formal experience in an RN leadership role (e.g., Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Manager).
