Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Nurse Leader for the Emergency Department in Wichita, KS. This full-time, day-shift role focuses on directing daily ED workflows, mentoring staff, and maintaining high-quality patient care.

You will lead policy development to ensure regulatory compliance and efficient operations. The position requires Kansas RN licensure with BLS, plus 3 years nursing and 1 year leadership experience; ED experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Kansas with BLS certification.
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in leadership.
• Preferred 2+ years ED experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily workflows for the ED unit and mentor staff.
• Drive safe, high-quality patient care and timely treatment.

• Lead and empower the unit team by directing daily workflows, mentoring and developing staff, and fostering a collaborative environment that elevates patient care standards.
• Optimize patient care delivery by proactively resolving unit-level operational challenges to ensure every patient receives safe, seamless, and high-quality treatment.
• Drive operational excellence and compliance through the development and implementation of unit policies that maintain strict adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Manage unit resources and budgets strategically to ensure the clinical team has the staffing, equipment, and support required to deliver exceptional healthcare efficiently.

What Minimum Requirements You'll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing required.

Education

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 3 years of experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience required.
