Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Labor and Delivery nurse in Indianapolis, IN for a part-time Days schedule at the Women and Infant's Tower. The role focuses on delivering high-level clinical nursing care during deliveries, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring a safe birth process from orders through discharge.

Minimum requirements include Indiana RN licensure and BLS within 30 days; Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are preferred.

Qualifications

  • BLS Provider within 1 month (30 days) of hire; accepted from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • RN credential from Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level clinical nursing for all deliveries, prioritizing safety and excellence.
  • Design, implement, and adjust real-time patient care plans; monitor and communicate vital changes for mother and baby safety.
  • Serve as the central point for the multidisciplinary team, coordinating physicians, specialists, and support staff for seamless holistic care.
  • Plan the birth experience from physician orders to safe discharge.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

  • Provide high-level clinical nursing for all deliveries, prioritizing safety and excellence.
  • Design, implement, and adjust real-time patient care plans. Monitor and communicate vital patient condition changes to ensure mother and baby safety.
  • Serve as the central point for the multidisciplinary team, coordinating physicians, specialists, and support staff for seamless, holistic care.
  • Precisely and empathetically manage the birth experience, from executing physician orders to meticulously planning for safe discharge
What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
One Or More Of The Following Are Preferred
  • Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certification specializing in The S.T.A.B.L.E Program.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
Education
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
Additional Preferences
  • Previous L&D Experience is required
