Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN Job Summary

Waterview Hills Campus is home to Waterview Hills and Salem Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare: Two facilities committed to providing outstanding Subacute Rehab and Long-Term Skilled Nursing Care. Together, these facilities offer patients the best rehab and nursing care they can obtain after their hospital discharge.

• Perform professional supervision, guidance, and direction to staff in both clinical and personnel issues on the Long-Term or Short Term Unit.
• Coordinate resident care in accordance with State DOH regulations.
• Provide support to resident/families in dealing with clinical issues and challenges.
• Ensure staff adheres to safety and infection control guidelines.
• Assist in establishing daily operations of resident care on the unit, including showers/baths, toileting, meal, medication administration, and activities.
• Communicate pertinent information to other members of the Interdisciplinary Team to meet resident/family needs.
• Perform daily rounds of all residents on the unit.
• Perform assessments on residents as required by the facility (Admission, Elopement, Pain, etc.).
• Develop and document plans of care for each resident and communicate them on Resident Information Sheets.
• Ensure assessments are documented and findings reported to the Nursing Supervisor.
• Prepare resident assignments for CNAs considering their competencies and residents' needs.
• Communicate ongoing resident, family, and facility concerns to staff.
• Organize, oversee, and supervise unit activities and staff assignments, including providing CNA assignments and monitoring care delivery.
• Communicate resident findings to the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Assist other staff members and orient new personnel as needed.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or three (3) years experience in long-term care.
• Current licensure in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Minimum three (3) years supervisory experience in a hospital, long-term care, or related medical facility, with training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing.
• Desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and handicapped.
• Thorough knowledge of medical, social, and psychological needs of residents.
• Good judgment in emergencies.
• Cooperative, enthusiastic attitude conducive to rehabilitation and growth.
• Effective verbal communication skills with residents, families, and staff.
• Calm and intelligent response to emergencies.
• Computer literacy.
• Covid-19 vaccinations encouraged but not mandated; vaccination offered based on CDC guidelines.
