Job summary

Ascension is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department Behavioral Health at Dell Seton Medical Center-UT in Austin, TX. The role involves night shift, direct patient care, and collaboration with the care team to improve patient safety and outcomes.

You will document in the EHR, monitor patient conditions, and assist with discharge planning while adhering to safety standards and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• RN credential from Texas Board of Nursing required before hire.
• ACLS or BLS within specified timeframes after hire.
• Instructor credentials for ACLS or BLS may be required for some roles.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months may be required.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Provide direct patient care as a Registered Nurse, implementing individualized care plans that improve patient safety, clinical quality, and overall patient outcomes.
• Monitor patient conditions, maintain accurate clinical documentation in EHR systems, and communicate updates to support timely patient care decisions.
• Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure seamless care coordination, treatment efficiency, and positive patient experiences.
• Support discharge planning and administer nursing interventions in compliance with healthcare regulations, patient safety standards, and quality improvement initiatives.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • Instructor specializing in Advanced Cardio Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • Instructor specializing in Basic Life Support obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Instructor specializing in Pediatric Adv Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

• 2 year previous emergency department experience preferred.
