Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Highlands in Sparta, TN, is seeking an ED Registered Nurse for the night shift (Full-Time). You will provide expert patient care in a high‑acuity Emergency Department, coordinating with physicians, nurses and allied staff to ensure timely and safe treatment.

The role emphasizes planning and communication, discharge planning, and adherence to institutional protocols while supporting a compassionate patient experience in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent nursing credential required at hire.
• RN license in Tennessee or compact state prior to hire date.
• ALS required within 6 months of hire.
• BLS required within 1 month of hire.
• PALS required within 6 months of hire.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Required Credential(s)

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Compact State Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
