Job summary

Ascension is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for McMinnville, TN. You will assess patients in a high-acuity ED, prioritize care, and implement life-saving interventions while coordinating with trauma and ED teams.

The ideal candidate holds TN RN licensure (orCompact State), a nursing diploma, and relevant certifications (ALS, BLS, PALS). This PRN/rotating role offers exposure to diverse cases and a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Tennessee or compact-state recognition (NLC) required.
• Diploma or higher in nursing from an accredited program.
• Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire or transfer date.
• BLS within 1 month of hire or transfer date.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire or transfer date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient conditions in a high-acuity ED to prioritize care and initiate life-saving interventions.
• Carry out physician orders accurately and monitor patient stability, adapting care plans as needed.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary trauma and ED teams to ensure timely, seamless care.
• Provide clear, empathetic education and support to patients and families during emergencies.
• Oversee urgent diagnostic testing and facilitate admissions or discharges to maintain ED flow.

• Precisely carry out physician orders and monitor patient stability, adapting care plans instantly as conditions evolve.
• Act as the primary coordinator for the multidisciplinary trauma and emergency teams to ensure seamless, well-timed care.
• Provide clear, empathetic education and support to patients and families navigating the stress of an emergency visit.
• Coordinate urgent diagnostic testing and facilitate efficient admissions or discharge planning to maintain optimal department flow.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing OR current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
