Job summary

Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, TX invites applications for a Nursing Shift Coordinator on the Full-time Night Shift. You will lead the shift team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care while coordinating assignments and resources across disciplines.

The role requires RN licensure, BLS, and either ACLS, STABLE, or NRP within six months of hire, with preferred charge nurse experience and a focus on patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• BLS within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or transfer date required.
• Registered Nurse licensure required.
• One or more of the following within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date: ACLS, STABLE, NRP depending on setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Nursing Shift Coordinator team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care while meeting daily clinical and operational objectives.
• Coordinate nursing assignments based on patient acuity, staffing needs, physician priorities, and population-specific care requirements.
• Monitor nursing staff performance, provide education, and promote clinical quality, patient safety, compliance, and productivity standards.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to resolve patient care concerns and support effective care delivery.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Accepted.


• Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.


• One or more of the following required:




• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Accepted. Required if working in adult critical care setting.


• Certification specializing in The S.T.A.B.L.E Program obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Required if working in labor & delivery setting.


• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Required if working in labor & delivery setting.


• Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Accepted. Required if working in pediatric critical care setting.

Education

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.
