Job summary

Ascension Seton Northwest in Austin, TX is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to lead nursing and support staff on the day shift within Med Surg. You will assign, educate, and monitor team members, ensuring patient care is delivered timely and safely.

You will meet with staff to plan shifts, assess patient needs, handle complaints through established channels, maintain supplies, set daily priorities, and contribute to hiring, training, and staff development as part of Ascension's commitment to

Qualifications

• RN licensure required prior to hire date.
• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Assigns, directs, educates and monitors nursing and support associates during assigned shifts.
• Meets with staff and exercises independent judgment to plan the shifts, services, and patient care.
• Assesses daily patient care needs and develops and distributes patient care assignments, ensuring that population appropriate patient care is given and is accountable for maintaining productivity standards and justifying variances to unit manager or designee.
• Responds to complaints about patient care and manages through established channels.
• Facilitates availability of adequate material, resources and supplies.
• Sets priorities appropriate to daily patient/physician dynamics.
• Provides input into hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s): BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.
