Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Fort Stockton Lynaugh Unit. The role involves direct patient care, medication administration, and contributing to treatment plans in a 22-facility West Texas system.

The position is day shift with competitive base pay and comprehensive benefits through the State of Texas. Ideal candidates are licensed RNs in Texas or eligible for licensure transfer, with new graduates able to take NCLEX-RN on first attempt.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care and participate in treatment plans
  • Administer medications as ordered and monitor dosages and reactions
  • Document patient data using EMR to support clinical decisions
  • Prepare and operate equipment for examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Assist with obtaining patient histories and completing required documentation
  • Inspect and maintain patient care areas, equipment, and supplies
  • Act as relief charge nurse when needed and supervise junior staff
  • Coordinate with physicians/APPs and communicate essential patient information during transfers

Major/Essential Functions
  • Responsible for providing care to patients at the FortStockton-Lynaugh Unit.
  • Administers medications as ordered, adheres to facility policyand procedure of medication administration and will maintainknowledge of appropriate dosages, reactions and contraindicationsof medications.
  • Communicates patient data using Electronic Medical Record (EMR)to support decision-making to improve patient care.
  • Prepares and operates necessary equipment and instruments forexaminations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Assists in completing required documentation forincoming/outgoing patients including obtaining accurate patienthistories.
  • Inspects and monitors equipment; inspects and ensuresmaintenance of patient care areas, equipment and supplies, andmedication refrigerator.
  • Serves as a relief charge nurse when needed, delegating tasksto lower level nursing staff.
  • Communicates with Physicians or Advanced Practice Providers asneeded, and calls report when transferring patients to another unitor hospital. Notifies provider(s) of any significantincidents.

Required Qualifications

License/Certification: Current RN License in the State ofTexas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled tocomplete a program of nursing within 120 days of applying for aposition. Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program.New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examinationfor Registered Nurses (NCLEX- RN) on the first attempt.
