Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Odessa is seeking an IT Support Technician III to provide basic hardware and software support to departments, faculty, staff, and students. This role focuses on helping users resolve technical issues and maintain IT services under supervision.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT or related field plus three years of experience, or seven years of combined education and experience.

The IT Support Technician III’s scope includes providing technical support and assistance to departments, faculty, staff, and students with the use of basic hardware and some software support and maintenance. This position will also specialize in hardware and software relevant to the department or unit, and manage area or unit IT projects in support of business operations.

Major/Essential Functions

With close supervision by management and/or project leads:

  • The IT Support Technician III's scope includes providing technical support and assistance to departments, faculty, staff, and students with the use of basic hardware and some software support and maintenance.
  • This position will collaborate with other departmental and school IT staff to achieve their needs within IT OP and procedures.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
