The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse for the Montgomery County Jail facility in Conroe, TX. This on-call role provides professional nursing care in a correctional setting and supervises junior staff.

Applicants must hold a Texas RN license, be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, and be able to pass the NCLEX-RN on the first attempt. Travel up to 25% is required.

Qualifications

• Current RN License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of nursing within 120 days of applying for a position.
• Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program.
• New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) on the first attempt.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing services to patients in the health facility following standards of care and document activities in health records.
• Assist with exams and procedures within the RN scope and document in health records.
• Administer medications following policies and document in medication systems and health records.
• Receive, document, assess, and respond to patient care requests per policy.
• Perform nursing rounds and document any complaints in health records.
• Oversee the clinical practice of LVNs and other clinical personnel.

Major/Essential Functions

• Provides direct nursing services to patients in the healthfacility following standards of care of the department, documentingactivities timely and accurately in patients' health records.
• Assists with exams and procedures, within the RN scope ofpractice, with all activities clearly and concisely documented inpatients’ health records.
• Ensures patient medications are administered following clinicaland compliance policies and procedures. Ensures activities aredocumented clearly and concisely in medication systems andpatients’ health records timely and accurately.
• Receives, documents, assesses, and responds to patient carerequests according to policy and standards of the department.
• Performs nursing rounds per department standards; any and allcomplaints are documented in patients’ health record.
• Oversees the clinical practice of LVNs and other clinicalpersonnel in the health facility.
