Job summary

Shea Online seeks a per diem Registered Nurse for Med/Surg in Evanston, IL. The position involves night shifts (2300-0730) with weekend and holiday requirements per level agreement, and placement at Evanston Primary with Skokie as secondary site. Per Diem Levels define 32–144 hrs per 6-week schedule.

Ability to provide compassionate nursing care, follow the nursing process, and guide team members is essential. IL licensure, NLN-accredited education, BLS, and telemetry experience are required.

Qualifications

• Current IL nursing license required.
• NLN-accredited school of nursing graduate; BSN preferred.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider required; NIHSS certification active.
• Minimum 2 years acute med/surg experience with telemetry demonstrated within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective nursing care for med/surg patients per plan of care.
• Utilize nursing process to plan, implement and evaluate care.
• Direct and guide unlicensed assistive personnel in care delivery.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Position Highlights

• Position: Per Diem, Registered Nurse Med/Surg Per Diem
• Location: Evanston, Hospital Primary, Skokie (secondary and subject to change)
• Full Time/Part Time: Per Diem
• Hours: Night shift; (2300-0730) weekend and holiday requirements per level agreement
• Per Diem Commitment Level: Per Diem Level 1: 32-72 hrs. or Per Diem Level 2: 73-110 hrs. or Per Diem Level 3: 111-144 hrs./ per 6-week schedule

Required Travel

• Evanston Primary site, Skokie (secondary site - subject to change)

What you will do

• Independently provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care for patients on med/surg units
• Utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care
• Guide and direct assigned unlicensed assistive personnel in delivering interdisciplinary patient care
• Communicate and collaborate with members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care
• Positively contributing to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience

What you will need

• License: Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required
• Education: Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required; BSN strongly preferred
• Certification: BLS Certification for the Healthcare Provider required. Must maintain an active NIHSS certification
• Experience: A minimum two years of recent acute care clinical experience in med/surg required. Telemetry competence required. Telemetry competence must be demonstrated within 14 days of hire by passing online telemetry test.
