Job summary

AKUA Behavioral Health Inc. in California is seeking a Clinical Technician to support patients in addiction and mental health programs. This is an hourly, full-time, non-exempt position with daytime shifts and direct client care.

You will conduct safety checks, assist with intakes and discharges, observe medications, facilitate groups, and document in KIPU EMR. A valid CA driver’s license and health screenings are required.

Qualifications

• Direct client care experience in behavioral health or related settings.
• Ability to perform regular safety checks and rounds.
• Experience assisting with patient intakes and discharges.
• Observation and documentation of medication administration per policy.
• Facilitation of group sessions (life skills, therapy, activities).
• Accurate charting in EMR and related documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Direct Client Care: Support patients with addiction and mental health activities and programming.
• Safety Checks: Conduct rounds and monitor patient well-being.
• Intakes & Discharges: Assist with admissions and releases from the facility.
• Medication Observation: Monitor and document self-administration of meds per policy.
• Group Facilitation: Lead or co-facilitate group sessions and activities.
• Documentation: Record notes in the EMR system (KIPU).

Position: Clinical Technician

Type: Hourly, Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Compensation: $23 hourly

Available Shifts:

• Tuesday-Saturday (07:45am-04:15pm)

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct Client Care: Support patients struggling with addiction and mental health disorders through daily activities and programming, appointments, and crisis intervention.
• Safety Checks: Conduct regular physical checks on all patients within care (a.k.a. “rounds”).
• Intakes & Discharges: Play a leading role in patient intakes and discharges from the treatment facility, ensuring all clients feel comfortable and welcome.
• Medication Observation: Monitor and document client self-administration of medications in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures.
• Group Facilitation: Participate in and facilitate applicable group sessions (e.g. life skills, art therapy, outings, etc.).
• Documentation: Take all required notes in the company's electronic medical record system (KIPU).

Requirements

Qualifications:

• License/Credentials: RADT, SUDRC, or RAC (required).
• Education: High School Diploma / GED or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
• Experience: 1+ years of behavioral healthcare experience (preferred)
• Additional:
• Valid CA Driver's License (required)
• Current Health Screen / Physical (required)
• TB Test Clearance (required)
