Job summary

Akua Behavioral Health is seeking a Clinical Technician in Costa Mesa, CA. This hourly, full-time, non-exempt role supports patients with addiction and mental health treatment through daily activities, crisis intervention, and group sessions.

Responsibilities span intake/discharge, safety checks, med observation, and EMR documentation in KIPU. Requirements include RADT/SUDRC/RAC licenses, CA driver’s license, health screen, and TB test clearance.

Qualifications

• License/credentials required: RADT, SUDRC, or RAC.
• Education: High School Diploma / GED or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
• Experience: 1+ years of behavioral healthcare experience (preferred).
• Additional: Valid CA Driver's License (required).
• Health Screen and TB Test clearance (required).

• Direct Client Care: support patients with addiction and mental health through daily activities and programming, appointments, and crisis intervention.
• Safety Checks: conduct regular rounds for patient safety.
• Intakes & Discharges: lead patient intakes and discharges with empathy and clarity.
• Medication Observation: monitor and document self-administration per policies.
• Group Facilitation: lead applicable group sessions (life skills, art therapy, outings).
• Documentation: record notes in EMR system (KIPU).

Position: Clinical Technician

Type: Hourly, Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Compensation: $23 hourly

Available Shifts:

• AM (6:30am - 3:00pm)
• PM (2:30pm-11:00pm)
• NOC (10:30pm-7:00am)

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct Client Care: Support patients struggling with addiction and mental health disorders through daily activities and programming, appointments, and crisis intervention.
• Safety Checks: Conduct regular physical checks on all patients within care (a.k.a. "rounds").
• Intakes & Discharges: Play a leading role in patient intakes and discharges from the treatment facility, ensuring all clients feel comfortable and welcome.
• Medication Observation: Monitor and document client self-administration of medications in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures.
• Group Facilitation: Participate in and facilitate applicable group sessions (e.g. life skills, art therapy, outings, etc.).
• Documentation: Take all required notes in the company's electronic medical record system (KIPU).
