Job summary

DMC Recruitment is supporting a respected wholesale lumber and building materials distributor in Washington to recruit a Sales Manager for its South Puget Sound distribution centre. The role combines distribution-centre leadership with field-based customer activity.

You will lead five Account Managers, coach teams, drive sales execution, and nurture relationships with contractors, dealers, and pro-channel customers, spending two days on site and three in the market.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of sales leadership experience.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop sales professionals.
• Strong customer-facing sales background.
• Experience in contractor, dealer, distributor, pro-channel, or B2B sales.
• Comfortable spending time in both the distribution centre and the field.
• Strong communication, organisation, and relationship-management skills.
• Commercial confidence around account growth and sales execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Account Managers.
• Support sales planning, account strategy, and customer development.
• Spend regular time in the field with customers and team members.
• Strengthen relationships with key accounts, dealers, contractors, and distribution partners.
• Help Account Managers identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and develop new business.
• Monitor sales activity, account performance, and customer coverage.
• Support pricing, negotiation, and commercial decision-making where required.
• Partner with the Distribution Centre Manager to align sales activity with local business priorities.
• Encourage collaboration between sales, operations, purchasing, and customer service teams.
• Build a sales culture focused on accountability, service, growth, and long‑term customer relationships.
• Represent the business positively in the regional market.
