Job summary

JCK Companies in Eugene and Portland seeks a People Business Partner to work in person with regional and restaurant leaders, turning data into practical solutions for workforce challenges. This role is not a desk job and requires 50–75% regional travel.

You will lead partnerships, conduct investigations, interpret employment law, analyze turnover and engagement, and drive improvements across departments with autonomy and accountability.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive HR experience with employee relations and investigations.
• Strong knowledge of federal, Oregon, and Washington employment law.
• Analytical with Excel, HRIS reporting, and workforce data.
• Independent judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the confidence to ask difficult questions.
• Ability to influence leaders through facts, credibility, and practical recommendations.
• Multi-unit restaurant, retail, or hospitality experience preferred.
• SHRM/HRCI certification and bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Leadership Partnership: Coach leaders, challenge assumptions, and strengthen accountability.
• Employee Relations: Conduct investigations, assess risk, interpret employment law, and recommend sound resolutions.
• People Strategy: Analyze turnover, retention, and engagement trends to identify problems and drive measurable improvements.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify gaps in processes, communication, and leadership practices. Coordinate improvements across departments.
• Employee Experience: Partner with Operations to strengthen onboarding, development, and retention.
