Job summary

Breen & Sullivan Mechanical Services Inc. is seeking a Regional Payroll Specialist to manage payroll across Northeast operating companies.

You will oversee timekeeping, processing, tax compliance, benefits deductions, GL reconciliation, reporting, and system integrations, aligning centralized controls with local needs. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent).
• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience with supervisory/managerial exposure.
• CPP designation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Experience managing multi-state payroll and tax compliance.
• Proficiency with payroll software and HRIS systems (Paylocity/ADP/Workday).
• Advanced Excel and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for regional locations to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Reconcile General Ledger entries for weekly payroll postings and month-end accruals.
• Review and approve payroll transactions, reconciliations, and adjustments for accuracy.
• Prepare payroll-related reports and analytics for management decisions.
• Lead payroll system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
• Develop and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and controls.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Operations on compensation, benefits, and reporting.
• Manage vendor relationships with payroll service providers and tax agencies.
• Serve as regional point of contact for audits, inquiries, and escalations.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and regulations.
