Job summary

Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking a Patient Service Representative for its onsite front desk team. You will perform visit preparation, co-pay collection, patient tracking, and ensure a positive patient experience while coordinating with clinic staff.

The role requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, experience in a general office or healthcare setting, and comfort with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Experience in a general office setting handling clerical duties is preferred.
  • Healthcare environment familiarity is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and families and respond promptly and empathetically.
  • Process visit preparation, co-pay collection, patient tracking and related duties.
  • Schedule patient visits or diagnostic testing using hospital procedures.
  • Manage third-party payors and collection of co-pays.
  • Perform routine clerical tasks such as faxing, filing, and phone communications.
  • Maintain front desk inventory and communicate needs to staff.
  • Support smooth office operations by prioritizing workload and deadlines.
  • Ensure waiting room and work areas remain clean and orderly.
  • Cross-coverage with colleagues as needed and maintain HIPAA compliance.
