Job summary

Yanco Agricultural High School is seeking a School Psychologist to join the school counselling service. You will deliver counselling and psychological assessments to primary and high school students, collaborating with teachers and families to enhance learning and wellbeing.

The role offers supervision from senior psychology staff, opportunities to work across the lifespan, and a supportive, multidisciplinary team within NSW public schools. Accommodation may be provided for suitable applicants.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy, Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG Inc. and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy.
• General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
• Valid and current Working with Children Check clearance.
• Current and valid driver’s licence with ability to travel between work sites.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency for permanent full-time or part-time appointment.

Responsibilities

• Provide counselling and psychological services to students individually and in groups with appropriate supervision.
• Engage with the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
• Collaborate with the principal, staff and student support services to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes.
• Contribute to social, emotional and academic development and support students with complex needs.
• Administer cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments and report results.
• Work with families, carers and external agencies to develop school-based support.
• Respond as part of a team to assist schools during serious incidents.
• Refer students and families to partner services to support wellbeing.
