Job summary

Walgett Community College – High School in NSW is hiring a School Psychologist to deliver counselling, assessments and support across primary and high school students. You will join a multidisciplinary team and contribute to student wellbeing, learning outcomes and families’ understanding of mental health needs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy, Partnership Agreement and DEI Strategy.
• Current and valid Working with Children Check clearance (WWCC) — NSW.
• Driver’s licence and willingness to travel between work sites, with ability to drive.
• Permanent full-time or permanent part-time appointments encouraged; appointment at desired FTE if PT.

Responsibilities

• Provides counselling and psychological services to students individually and in groups.
• Implements Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
• Collaborates with principal, staff and support services to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes.
• Supports students with complex behavioural needs and contributes to development of well-being.
• Administers cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments and reports results.
• Works with parents, carers and outside agencies to support student health and wellbeing.
• Responds to schools experiencing serious incidents as part of a team.
• Refers students and families to additional agencies for support.
