Job summary

Yanco Agricultural High School is seeking a dedicated School Counsellor to deliver counselling and psychological assessments for students, supporting their learning and wellbeing. The role offers collaboration with teachers, families, and external agencies, with supervision within a multidisciplinary team in NSW public schools.

You will be based at Yanco Agricultural High School, travel between worksites as needed, and have access to professional development and departmental support.

Qualifications

• Experience counselling using evidence-based interventions with a demonstrated understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people.
• Experience in the psychological assessment of children and young people, including case formulation and report writing.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for students from diverse backgrounds.
• Be a registered or provisionally registered psychologist, or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
• Ability and willingness to travel between worksites. Must have a valid unrestricted provisional or full driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide counselling and psychological assessment for students to complement school staff work.
• Collaborate with teachers and external agencies to strengthen student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
• Engage with families to understand and manage learning and mental health needs.
• Participate in supervision and professional development within the district school counselling team.
• Contribute to ongoing professional supervision and training via NSW Department of Education programs.
