Job summary

Merck in Rahway, NJ is seeking an experienced Regional Medical Scientific Director (MSL) for Inflammatory Bowel Disease Immunology to engage with Scientific Leaders and share medical information on therapeutic areas of interest.

This role supports scientific exchange, research alignment, and congress activity, with up to 50% travel within the territory. Requires a PhD/MD-like credential and 3+ years in immunology/IBD.

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO or MD required.
• Three years of Immunology (IBD) experience beyond degree.
• Strong verbal and written communications.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Dedication to scientific excellence with focus on education and dialogue.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and networking skills.
• Knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA and other regulations.
• Organizational skills in a dynamic environment.
• Proficient with MS Office and virtual meeting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Scientific Exchange: develop relationships with national/regional SLs and provide approved medical information.
• Answer scientific questions and direct inquiries to appropriate resources.
• Maintain knowledge of AOI and therapeutic area dynamics.
• Research: initiate discussions to align with research strategies and study concepts.
• Enhance understanding of investigator-sponsored research and protocol leads with GCTO.
• Site initiation visits and identification of investigators for trials.
• Address questions from investigators about participation in studies.
• Scientific Congress Support: engage in congresses and facilitate data exchange.
• Scientific Insights: collect feedback to inform company scientific priorities.
