Job summary

Merck is seeking a Growth- and Improvement-minded Regional Medical Scientific Director (MSL) in Respiratory - COPD to drive Strategic Operating Priorities. The role engages in scientific exchanges with national and regional leaders and supports investigator-initiated and company-sponsored research.

Qualifications

• Requires terminal degree (PhD/PharmD/DNP/DO/MD)
• Minimum 3 years in COPD/respiratory therapeutic area beyond degree training
• Strong stakeholder management and communications skills
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders
• Knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA and industry regulations
• Proficient in MS Office and virtual meeting tools

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national/regional SLs to share company-approved medical information.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains medical contact networks.
• Addresses SL inquiries and directs non-scope questions to appropriate resources.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of AOI and therapeutic area scientific landscape.
• Leads or supports discussions with GCSA and GCTO on study concepts and investigator collaboration.
• Supports scientific congresses and facilitates data exchange for company and competitors.
• Gathers feedback and scientific insights to inform priorities and decision-making.
