Qualifications

Job description

The Regional Maintenance Fleet Manager oversees the operation and efficient management of the company's vehicle fleet across multiple locations within an assigned region, ensuring fleet activities align with cost control, regulatory compliance, safety, and operational efficiency goals. This role leads strategic planning for fleet utilization, preventive maintenance programs, and vehicle replacement strategies, and partners with cross-functional teams to strengthen driver safety and reduce environmental impact. This position is critical to maintaining a reliable, cost-effective, and fully compliant fleet in support of business operations.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage the daily operations of the regional vehicle fleet, including scheduling, maintenance, and repairs, to ensure maximum uptime and safety.
  • Develop and implement fleet management policies and procedures that comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Monitor fleet performance metrics and prepare regular reports on operating costs, utilization, and compliance for senior leadership.
  • Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and internal departments to negotiate contracts and optimize fleet-related expenses.
  • Lead, coach, and develop fleet technicians and shop personnel while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead strategic planning efforts to optimize fleet utilization, preventive maintenance programs, and vehicle replacement strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement policies that enhance driver safety and reduce environmental impact.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in fleet management or a comparable operational leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, safety regulations, and fleet management software.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and analyze financial data related to fleet operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial reports and optimize operating budgets.
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
Preferred:
  • Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) or similar fleet management certification.
  • Experience managing multi-state or regional fleet operations within the United States.
  • Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and alternative fuel vehicle technologies.
