Job summary

Forward Air Corp. in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Dispatcher - Regional to coordinate day-to-day freight across local, regional, and national routes. You will schedule, assign, and track shipments with a strong focus on on-time performance.

The role requires a high school diploma, solid customer service, and proficiency with dispatch tools such as TMS and AS400. This is an on-site position with a Sunday-Tuesday schedule and every other Wednesday, 6 AM–6:15 PM.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced dispatch environment.
• Familiarity with dispatch systems and fleet management tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate routine dispatching of freight across local, regional, and national routes.
• Dispatch and support company and contractor drivers according to guidelines.
• Primary contact for driver communications via phone, in-cab tech, and email.
• Relay load instructions, routing, and updates; document interactions in systems.
• Monitor shipment status, driver progress, and appointment times.
• Maintain records of driver hours, availability, and performance.
• Identify disruptions or compliance concerns and escalate per SOPs.
• Provide routine customer updates and shipment status.
• Coordinate with customer service, operations, and sales on status and issues.
• Support multi-day OTR and long-haul shipments across regions.
• Assist onboarding and system navigation for new drivers.
• Perform data entry and administrative tasks to support dispatch.
• Follow SOPs, safety rules, and regulatory requirements.
• All other duties as assigned.
