Job summary

Haven Behavioral Healthcare, an Oceans Healthcare Company, is a behavioral health system seeking a Regional Intake Nurse to support admissions and patient access for multiple facilities in the region. The role handles inbound referrals, phone-based assessments, and coordinates admissions with on-site teams.

Requires RN or LPN license in the practice state and at least one year in behavioral health, with crisis management experience preferred.

Qualifications

• RN or LPN license in the state of practice.
• At least 1 year of behavioral healthcare experience preferred.
• Knowledge of admission criteria for varying levels of care.

Responsibilities

• Promptly respond to inbound referrals via phone or fax.
• Processes requests for admission from outside referral agencies and from within the community.
• Reviews all medical documentation from referrals.
• Collaborates with medical personnel at assigned facilities.
• Completes nurse to nurse reports and communication.
• Maintains understanding of admission and exclusionary criteria of each assigned facility.
• Conducts phone assessments and Intake Screening and Assessment Part 1 thoroughly on all appropriate accepted patients.
• Completes insurance benefit verification and authorizations.
• Documents all calls and referrals into the EMR system.
• Pre-admits patients in the hospital billing system.
• Collaborates with other facility personnel to ensure appropriate recommendation of referrals.
• Coordinates admission and transfer between other hospital systems.
• Communicates projected admissions to designated facility staff.
• Complies with organization policies and procedures.
• Maintains ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Completes other duties and projects as assigned.
