Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Senior Substation Physical Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide technical and organizational leadership in our Power and Energy practice. You will lead HV substation design from 230kV to 345kV and mentor a team of engineers and designers.

Ideal candidates will serve as EOR for physical design, drive project delivery, manage budgets and staffing, and support business development across multiple US locations. Travel is required up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• At least 15 years of related experience in HV substation design or power delivery.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects ranging from 230kV to 345kV.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and technical authority for substation physical design, including AIS/GIS substations and grounding.
• Mentor engineering staff and support business growth and client relationships.
• Oversee team performance, utilization, and resource planning including budgets and schedules.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams from planning through construction and startup.
