Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. The role combines advanced HV substation design expertise with leading and growing a team of engineers and designers.

The position supports projects 230kV–345kV, with responsibilities as EOR, process improvement, and client service. Travel to multiple offices may be required across the U.S. and beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline; PE license preferred.
• 15 years of related experience; equivalent experience considered.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel may vary by project.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects from 230kV to 345kV.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and technical authority for substation physical design.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables, studies, and calculations for quality and standards compliance.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated project delivery through planning, design, construction, commissioning, startup.
• Drive technical excellence via reviews, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
