Job summary

SOCOTEC is seeking a Regional Fire & Life Safety Manager to launch and grow the fire protection engineering division in the Mid-Atlantic, ideally serving the Washington DC metro area. This leadership role requires technical expertise, business acumen, and strong team-building skills to establish operations and drive growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• PE license in Fire Protection Engineering or ability to obtain one within a reasonable time frame.
• 7–10 years of fire protection engineering experience, with at least 3 years in leadership or managerial roles.
• Strong knowledge of fire protection systems design, building codes, and safety regulations (NFPA, IBC, UBC, etc.).
• Proven track record in business development, client relationships, and project acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the Mid-Atlantic market entry and growth strategy for SLS, establishing SOCOTEC as a trusted partner in the local construction, development, and infrastructure ecosystem.
• Develop a market-specific growth plan for the SLS Service Line aligned with regional and national strategy.
• Drive market penetration and revenue growth by identifying and securing new client opportunities.
• Build and sustain senior client relationships with key clients, owners, developers, contractors, engineers, and industry stakeholders in the local area.
• Drive cross-selling of SOCOTEC's integrated service offerings and maximize lifetime client value.
• Establish and nurture long-term client partnerships to anticipate needs and address challenges.
• Oversee fire protection engineering projects from inception to completion within budgets and timelines.
• Stay up-to-date with latest fire protection technologies, codes, and regulations and provide guidance on systems such as fire suppression and building code compliance.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal fire protection codes and safety regulations.
• Own full P&L for the Service Line in the local area, manage budgeting, forecasting, utilization, margins, and cash flow.
• Implement KPIs and safety protocols; manage project execution, resource allocation, billing, and collections.
• Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing team; set goals and ensure alignment with regional targets.
• Foster a hands-on, accountable leadership culture and a culture of collaboration and safety.
